<aside> 💡 ICYMI, this is my state-of-the-union-style thoughts on AI. Yes, it’s a compilation of 3 YouTube videos. It’s good, I promise. Give it a watch, or skim what's below—we'll dig into it more during the next few lessons.

Exactly WHAT is AI & ChatGPT?

Don’t get the ick. You’re already using AI. If you have ever …

… hit “play” on a Spotify Discover Weekly custom-made playlist

… clicked “accept” on a next line or word generated from Google in Gmail

… enjoyed Grammarly’s writing or spell check assistance

… then yeah. You’re using artificial intelligence.

AI tools use a process called natural language processing (NLP) to generate responses to prompts (whether you wrote ‘em or some engineer at Spotify wrote ‘em). Specifically, ChatGPT and Bard use a neural network trained on a large corpus of text data to generate responses.

Curious about how neural network training works to generate responses? Listen in to minutes 00:00-00:00 above. Feel free to skip if that stuff bores you. 😎

🎨How to Think About AI as an Artist or Creative

Have you ever seen those TikToker DJs that spin mashups you’d never DREAM to combine? Like, TK & TK. Or TK layered with TK.

I bet when turn tables came out & DJs hit the scene, an old-school musician or two stomped their feet. “BUT IT’S NOT ART,” they probably cried.

But the truly creative DJs iterated on technology. They used to the tool to build art.

I believe we can do something similar with AI as small business owners.

Think about a chef using his sharp knife to plate beautiful food … AI is a knife, you’re the chef. The knife is only as good as the chef.

<aside> 💡 AI bots are only as good as the inputs. It’s like Tay Swift sang, “play stupid games, win stupid prizes.” If you put in trash, you’ll get out trash.
